Playbook question... find on page?
  • Can anyone help me? How can I do a ctrl f kn the playbook browser?

I absolutely hate not knowing how to do this.... finding info takes so much longer.
  • Looks like there is no find in page for the browser.

    Dear RIM,

I love you, but you often don't understand me.

    With love,
    Jon

    We get that a lot.
  • I do like the playbook overall though. It just needs more... content & features.

I was reading research papers last night and it was a very nice as an ereader. I really like the size - every web page is easy to read and looks good.

    It's just... missing stuff.
  • February will bring a lot of the missing stuff.

Maybe not everything, but certainly an improvement.

That being said, it meets most of my needs.

What I'm really looking forward too is deeper Blackberry-esque integration. Right now a lot of the PB software doesn't really talk to each other very well, and that's something the BB does really nicely.
  • Too bad my company disabled bridging. :(
    But not tethering!! Crazy.
  • How about native email and BBM app? You know... RIM's bread and butter... This thing needs to function as a freestanding entity or it'll die a horrible death and I'd hate to see that.
  • Yeah, OS 2.0 is gonna be sweet. You can load the beta now if you want. It's stable, but not fully complete.

    See Etters comment above.
  • Email, calendar, contacts (PIM stuff) are all in 2.0. You can load the beta on our website somewhere.

BBM isn't in 2.0. It's complicated - people don't want two BBM addresses, so we're coming up with a multi-point-of-presence thing.
  • everyone that i know with a playbook wants RDP. hell im writing this on my playbook, if i give one of you rim guy my pin can you push down a beta rdp app to my playbook

    rdp rdp rdp
  • I linked some VNC apps on the other forums. Did anyone try them?
  • VNC is not RDP
  • How is VNC not RDP?
  • They are based on different protocals even though they do the same thing.

I have many terminal server users that need RDP for connection / published apps. And for the ones that have playbooks want to connect to them
  • VNC = Virtual network Console ... key word being console. You control what would be the console session in rdp. same thing that would be seen by a monitor hooked up to the system

RDP = remote Desktop protocol ... key word desktop. you can control a session of a terminal server. Many users one server
  • Thank you plat.

But this still doesn't help me get an rdp app
  • Umm...

It's close, but not quite... You have to install a client on the target machine.
  • Seriously? Buy a friggin iPad. Why bother with an entry level pos like this?
  • Alpha you American?

I mean, I'm biased in this case - but in general that's a pretty harsh statement. Why buy anything new when an established product already exists?

I'll never deny that the iPad is an excellent device. But, I think to assume that the tablet market will never have another device worth discussing and using is foolhardy.

There isn't anyone who will promote someone buying an iPad more than me, but the thread was about another device and solutions for that device.

I don't know that i would call a Playbook any more entry level than an iPad 1. It's a G1 device and has its limitations, but it doesn't suck - once they get the software straight.
