So as my son gets older, I wonder when is a good time to introduce him to video games.
I mean I'd love for him to start learning his way around a keyboard, and/or mouse soon. He's turning 4 in Februray, and curious if any of you have run into games a boy his age could play.
Along side that discussion, I wonder when games like the Lego Series games or other neat games would be good to introduce. Thoughts on other games and age appropriatness. I dont mind he plays early, I just mind how much and content really.
I haven't done any console / computer games yet. But, Eric loves the games on the Playbook. And he is able to launch games, move between games, close games and such without any problem.
I'd need to check my PB to see what I've loaded on.
Fly Squirrel Fly is good. I have one that's like a colouring book where you pick colours and paint pictures. Bubble Blast I think. I mean, the PB has a wealth of reasonably simple games that kids can play. I've found almost anything I download he enjoys at some level. Plenty of free options.
I'll try to take a look tonight when I have my PB handy - but just flip through the free games, grab some and show him how they work. I think it's a great introduction to games, and a lot more intuitive than a mouse/keyboard or controller.
He loves it and they also got him the Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 carts as well. It teaches them lots while playing games, and it works similar to tablets. It has a built in camera and takes both pics and video.
Personally I got into games as a kid when my dad and I used to play Kings Quest. I think what attracted me to it was the fact that we both played it, not just me sitting down, although I'm sure I would have enjoyed it anyways. Maybe look at games that the two of you can play together? That way he can still have great success with a game, not realizing that you might be helping him down the right path too. Its a great opportunity to spend time with him as well and do something that you still get enjoyment out of.
